Museum Van Loon

House of Lords

In a traditional Dutch canal house on the Keizersgracht, this small but intriguing museum is named after the Van Loon family, descendants of Willem van Loon, who co-founded the Dutch East-India company in 1602. This private residence was built in 1672, and inhabited by the Van Loon family from the 19th century onwards. The building’s Golden Age interior has remained largely intact; within its walls visitors can enjoy a large collection of paintings, furniture and porcelain – and, behind the house, a supremely beautiful garden.
